Kaipara College Waka ama students makes up the majority of Tu Tangi Ora  Junior Paddlers J16 - J19. 

Under the guidance and coaching of Israil Foreman. Kaipara College students have achieved incredible results in the fast-growing sport of Waka Ama.  Mr Foreman is an experienced and knowledgeable asset to Kaipara College Waka Ama and our local club, Tu Tangi Ora which he founded himself in 2008 and remains the Club Chairman to this day. His involvement in Waka Ama at the college has encouraged many of the school students to join the sport and has provided many great opportunities for those involved. Israil’s hard work has put Kaipara College on the map in the Waka Ama world and is a main reason for our remarkable results both nationally and internationally.

At the 2016 National Secondary School Waka Ama Championships, Kaipara College also received the prestigious Putu Mihaka Award for displaying “all the values that this event epitomises”, whakawhanaungatanga(establishing relationships, relating well to others) , manaakitanga ​(kindness, hospitality) ​ and awhi ​(helpfulness, embrace). The recipient of this award is chosen by the event organisers. Receiving this award was a huge honour for both Waka Ama teams and Kaipara College.
